Biography
Carl E. Harvison is a trial attorney specializing in civil practice in courts throughout Pennsylvania. He is a 1978 graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of that institution’s Law Review, including service as a Casenote Editor. Prior to that, he was graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1975.
After serving for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Roy A. House of the Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas, Mr. Harvison began his career as a litigator with the firm of Thomson, Rhodes and Grigsby. In 1988, he joined Rothman, Gordon, Foreman and Groudine, where he practiced until joining Cipriani & Werner in March 2000. Mr. Harvison’s practice is state-wide, including federal courts and state administrative agencies. He is an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, serving on its Lawyer’s Insurance Committee, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, serving on its Lawyer’s Professional Liability Committee. He is also a member of the PBA Speaker’s Panel, and has presented seminars to lawyers in nearly every county in Western Pennsylvania on legal malpractice avoidance.
Attorney Harvison’s practice has been varied, consisting primarily of the representation of defendants in civil lawsuits. Much of his practice has been in the representation of professionals - doctors, lawyers, insurance agents and brokers and real estate professionals, both in court and before professional licensing boards. He also has defended manufacturers and sellers of products against claims of defects in design and manufacture, as well as property owners and others against claims alleging negligence or other wrongdoing. He also has represented plaintiffs in a variety of business and personal claims.
Mr. Harvison lives in Allison Park with his wife, Linda, and three children. He is active in his community as well, recently serving as President of the Hampton Alliance for Educational Enrichment, a local fund-raising group that supports educational enrichment projects through grants in that community’s school district.
