Biography
Nathan D. Hughes joined Cipriani & Werner in April 2005 as an Associate in the Employer’s Rights Group. His current practice is focused on workers’ compensation. He has expertise in the interplay of the rights of Medicare versus those of employers/carriers in liability settings, making presentations on that topic not only to clients but also to other lawyers for required continuing legal education credits.
In addition to workers’ compensation, Mr. Hughes’ legal experience and studies have included labor and employment law, contract law, civil litigation and social security.
Prior to joining Cipriani & Werner, Mr. Hughes practiced with an insurance defense firm and clerked for a prominent claimants firm, both in Pittsburgh. A graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law in 2003, Mr. Hughes completed his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1995 and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Before returning to his native Pittsburgh to attend law school, Mr. Hughes worked in several media markets across the country as a television anchor/reporter. Much of his time was spent covering sports, but he also spent time as an investigative reporter, co-hosting the Jerry Lewis Telethon, and hosting outdoor and cooking segments of local newscasts.
Mr. Hughes resides in Pittsburgh’s South Hills with his wife, Jennifer, and son, Aiden.
