Carolyn Purwin Ryan, a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office, was recently appointed a Vice Chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy General Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) for 2019-2020.
In her new role, Ms. Ryan will take part in the organization of the Section’s major annual meetings which involves planning and coordinating CLEs, various committee meetings and programs, networking and administration. Her appointment will take effect on the last day of the 2019 ABA annual meeting in San Francisco until the last day of the 2020 annual meeting in Toronto, and will be reflected on the ABA website on September 1, 2019.
Ms. Ryan is the co-chair of Cipriani & Werner’s Cybersecurity, Information Privacy and Data Security Practice Group. She works with clients to develop risk assessment policies, implement data protection plans, incident response planning, mitigation strategies and remediation. Her clients include health care institutions and providers, municipalities, professional services, retail, technology and financial institutions. Ms. Ryan also represents clients in litigation focusing on data breaches and data security, information technology and failures, cloud computing related issues and IT outsourcing agreements.
