Christopher C. Ross is a partner in the firm’s Charleston, West Virginia office.  He focuses his practice on litigation defense including state and municipal government, civil rights, labor and employment, premises liability, auto and trucking accident, asbestos, Federal Black Lung, construction and property damage matters.

Mr. Ross is an experienced trial attorney with more than 25 years representing clients in a wide variety of litigation defense matters.  Before entering private practice, he worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the Kanawha County Public Defender’s Office in Charleston and as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office in Akron, Ohio.  He also served as a law clerk in the Civil Rights Division of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office in Charleston.

Mr. Ross is licensed to practice law in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. District Courts for West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 4th and 6th Circuits.  He is an active member of Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.

A native of Clendenin, West Virginia, Mr. Ross graduated with honors from West Virginia University in 1996 and was a finalist for the title of “Mr. Mountaineer” in 1995.  His favorite activity at WVU was serving as an ambassador for West Virginia as part of “The Pride of West Virginia” Mountaineer Marching Band.  Mr. Ross graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 2001 where he was a member of the American Bar Association Negotiation Competition advocacy team and participated in the national Saul Lefkowitz Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition.

Mr. Ross is a member of the WVU Alumni Band, Appalachian Gamers, the North American Scrabble Players Association, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.  He is also a member of the East End Community Association and currently serves as legal advisor to the Adjutant General for the West Virginia National Guard Foundation Board of Directors.

Mr. Ross lives with his wife and children in the historic East End of Charleston.  He recently served as a volunteer for school activities and as a coach for baseball, basketball, and youth hockey in service of his twins and in honor of his late father, David E. Ross.
