Gerard J. Cipriani

Gerard J. Cipriani is one of the founding partners of Cipriani & Werner and transitioned to Of Counsel status on July 1, 2022.  He concentrates his practice primarily in complex and catastrophic litigation matters representing the construction industry, the transportation industry and their insurers, as well as businesses.

Gerard J. Cipriani is one of the founding partners of Cipriani & Werner and transitioned to Of Counsel status on July 1, 2022.  He concentrates his practice primarily in complex and catastrophic litigation matters representing the construction industry, the transportation industry and their insurers, as well as businesses.

Mr. Cipriani is also a licensed real estate broker in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has been a material participant in real estate development projects ranging from single-family homes to big box retail centers.  As such, he is experienced in all types of construction litigation matters from subsurface development issues to structural matters, whether litigated in the civil courts or arbitration settings.

He is also recognized as a Special Master in Allegheny County’s Expedited Resolution Program, a Federal Court Mediator and a Member of the American Arbitration Association.

Since 1986, Mr. Cipriani has been a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, an invitation-only group limited to 270 litigators practicing in a county of several thousand lawyers.  He is also a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Federal and Allegheny County Bar Associations.  In addition, he is a member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, the Defense Research Institute, and a Founding Member of the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys.

Mr. Cipriani is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts, as well as the U.S District Court for the Western and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Cipriani received his B.A., with honors, from the University of Scranton in 1975 and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1978.
