Cristina A. Di Maria is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office.  She is an experienced attorney who focuses her practice on data security and privacy and provides comprehensive legal services to clients facing complex cyber risk challenges.  With extensive experience in managing responses to data security incidents, Ms. Di Maria helps clients of all sizes navigate the complexities of cyber threats and mitigate their exposure to data privacy and security risks.  Her practice is centered around incident response, proactive risk management, and ensuring compliance with evolving data privacy regulations.

Cristina A. Di Maria is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office.  She is an experienced attorney who focuses her practice on data security and privacy and provides comprehensive legal services to clients facing complex cyber risk challenges.  With extensive experience in managing responses to data security incidents, Ms. Di Maria helps clients of all sizes navigate the complexities of cyber threats and mitigate their exposure to data privacy and security risks.  Her practice is centered around incident response, proactive risk management, and ensuring compliance with evolving data privacy regulations.

Ms. Di Maria has successfully led a wide range of fully managed incident response services across industries, including digital forensics investigations, network restoration efforts, ransom negotiations, and strategic guidance on communications.  She works closely with clients to assess and fulfill consumer and regulatory notification obligations, liaises with law enforcement, and provides counsel on compliance with applicable data privacy laws.  She also offers proactive data privacy and information security training to help clients safeguard their data and minimize risks.

Ms. Di Maria previously served as Managing Counsel for Global Privacy and Security at a publicly traded financial technology corporation, where she was responsible for advising stakeholders on a broad spectrum of data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence laws.  In this role, she provided guidance on the collection, use, transfer, and protection of personal and nonpublic information, helping to shape the company’s approach to privacy and security across global operations.

Her prior experience also includes serving as a senior attorney at an AMLAW 100 law firm, where she advised clients on cyber risk assessments, incident response planning, and third-party contract reviews.  She assisted clients in responding to data security incidents and other unauthorized breaches.  Ms. Di Maria is also an experienced litigator, having managed cases for healthcare providers and facilities, particularly in matters involving HIPAA and the HITECH Act.

As a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/US), Ms. Di Maria is well-versed in navigating the regulatory landscape and ensuring compliance with privacy laws.  She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York (EDNY and SDNY).  She is a co-chair of the Cybersecurity Emergency Response Subcommittee of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and a member of the International Women’s Cyber Alliance (IWCA) and American Bar Association.

Ms. Di Maria received her B.A. from New York University in 2001, where she graduated with high honors.  She was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta honor society and received the prestigious Founders’ Day Award for academic excellence.  She received her J.D. from New York Law School in 2006, where she was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship.  She further honed her expertise by obtaining a Healthcare Management certification from Cornell University in 2021.

In her spare time, Ms. Di Maria enjoys staying active and cooking, as well as reading literature, practicing music, and listening to political and historical podcasts.  She prioritizes spending quality time with family and taking care of her home.  While her days of world travel are on pause, she finds contentment in the everyday moments of her life in rural New Jersey.
