Joseph M. Caputo is the Managing Partner in the firm's Scranton, PA office and a member of the Board of Directors.  He concentrates his practice in workers' compensation defense.

Since admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1990, Mr. Caputo has limited his practice to the area of Workers’ Compensation Law and the representation of only insurance carriers, self-Insured employers and third-party administrators.  He has practiced before numerous workers’ compensation judges across the Commonwealth, as well as before the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, Commonwealth Court and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Caputo has gained substantial expertise in this ever-evolving area of law.  He has lectured on various aspects of Pennsylvania’s Workers’ Compensation Law for Lorman Education Systems, National Business Institute and The Philadelphia Insurance Society.  He also served as an adjunct faculty member at Marywood College teaching Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Law in the 1997-1998 academic year.

Before joining Cipriani & Werner, Mr. Caputo was a shareholder at Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin’s Scranton office in the Workers’ Compensation Department.

He has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in 2018 and 2019 in the area of Workers' Compensation.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Workers’ Compensation Section and the Lackawanna County Bar Association.

Mr. Caputo received his B.A. in History from the University of Scranton in 1987 and his J.D. from Ohio Northern University’s Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 1990.

He resides in Covington Township PA with his wife, Kathy and his two children, Gianna and Donato.
