Lauren Despot Krofcheck

Lauren Despot Krofcheck is a partner in the firm's Pittsburgh office.  With almost 17 years of litigation and trial experience, she handles complex cases involving catastrophic injuries.  She concentrates her practice in insurance defense litigation including employment, Title VIII, complex general liability, dram shop and product liability matters.

Ms. Krofcheck has represented national and international companies, as well as individuals in federal and state court, and before administrative agencies including the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in a variety of litigation matters.

Ms. Krofcheck is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.  She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.  Ms. Krofcheck is a member of the Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Allegheny County Bar Associations and Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.

She received her B.A., summa cum laude, in Industrial Organizational Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania in 2002, and interned for Senator Jay Costa at the State Capitol in Harrisburg.  Ms. Krofcheck received her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 2007.  She also attended the University of Virginia School of Law's Trial Advocacy College in 2018.

While in law school, Ms. Krofcheck was the 2006-2007 President of Women's Law Caucus, a student mentor, and mediated for several county magistrate courts in West Virginia.  Immediately following law school, she clerked for the Honorable Steve P. Leskinen in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
