Safira Castro is an associate with Cipriani & Werner’s Cybersecurity Litigation group, focusing her practice on cybersecurity, data privacy, and media-related matters including trademark, copyright, and defamation.

Based and licensed in Colorado, Safira joins the firm with over five years of experience across law firm, Big Four consulting, and in-house roles advising Fortune 500 clients on cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI governance. She brings a client-centered, risk-informed approach to regulatory compliance, technology transactions, and civil litigation.

Certified in CIPP/US and AWS AI/Machine Learning, Safira translates complex frameworks—such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST SP 800-53, and CSF 2.0—and global regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, BIPA) into scalable, business-ready solutions.  Her experience includes building privacy and cybersecurity programs, leading gap and maturity assessments, conducting internal compliance audits, updating incident response playbooks, strategizing lobbying/government advocacy, and drafting and negotiating data protection agreements and service contracts.

Safira has advised clients across diverse sectors, including software/technology, telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, fintech, pharmaceuticals, and federal contracting.  She brings additional experience in emerging risk areas such as infrastructure law, IoT, post-quantum encryption, and cryptographic resilience.

Safira is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association and Colorado Women’s Bar Association.

Safira received her B.A. from the University of Florida in Political Science, International Relations, and Italian Language Studies and her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.  She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
