Shawn M. Adkins is an associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office.  As a member of the Cybersecurity, Information Privacy and Data Security team, he helps clients navigate the complexities of a breach response including leading the investigation, developing a communications strategy, determining what obligations the incident may impose upon clients and ensuring that they comply with all regulatory and reporting obligations required by state and federal law.

Prior to joining Cipriani & Werner, Mr. Adkins was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of West Virginia for eight years where he gained extensive experience as the primary point-of-contact for investigating and prosecuting cyber-related incidents for the District.

Mr. Adkins is licensed to practice in West Virginia.  He is a Barrister Member of the William Blackstone Inn of Court and a Volunteer Attorney for Legal Aid of West Virginia.

Mr. Adkins received his B.B.A., cum laude, from Marshall University in 2008 and his J.D., cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 2011.  While in law school, he was senior associate editor of Western Michigan University Cooley Law Review.
