Walter E. Werner is one of the founding partners of Cipriani & Werner and is a member of the Board of Directors.  He transitioned to Of Counsel status on July 1, 2022.  He concentrates his practice in workers’ compensation litigation, primarily on behalf of insurance carriers and their insureds, as well as self-insured entities.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Werner spent several years as Assistant Chief Counsel to the State Workers’ Insurance Fund.  In that position, he was responsible for managing the Legal Department for the Western Region of Pennsylvania and litigating the majority of the workers’ compensation cases arising in that region.

Mr. Werner is a member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, as well as the Workers' Compensation Sections of both the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations.

He is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Werner received his B.A. from Dickinson College in 1978 and his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law in 1981.

Mr. Werner resides in the North Hills of Pittsburgh with his wife, Kathy.  They have six adult children.
