West Virginia OIC Increases State Mileage Reimbursement Rate

On February 15, 2022, the Offices of Insurance Commissioner issued a Notice regarding the mileage reimbursement rate.  Pursuant to West Virginia Code § 23-4-8(d) and (e), workers’ compensation claimants are entitled to reimbursement mileage driven “in connection with medical examinations, appointments and treatments, including appointments with the claimant's authorized treating physician.”  The reimbursement rate is based on the rate for West Virginia State employees.  Effective January 1, 2022, the state mileage reimbursement rate increased to 58.5 cents per mile.

Therefore, the mileage reimbursement rate for claimants is 58.5 cents per mile as of January 1, 2022.
